About 7 Birdhurst Rise
We are a small residential home on Birdhurst Rise in South Croydon, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. Because only a few people live here, the place works as a household. Everyone has their own room arranged how they like it, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff supporting them: what is cooked, when the shopping happens, who wants to go out and where to. Those are small matters that add up to whether somebody feels at home or merely accommodated. Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. For some that is a job, a college course or a regular volunteering day. For others it is getting out into the neighbourhood, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, or doing more for themselves in the kitchen. We take the long view, since progress in this work is usually gradual and the gains that matter are often ones nobody outside the house would notice. Consistency counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
