About Tamara House
Tamara House is a residential care home in Torpoint, caring for older people in a corner of Cornwall that many of the people living with us have known for years. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a real say in how the day goes. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar routine and an unhurried approach achieve more than anything else we could offer, and people managing mental health conditions, where patience and continuity count for a great deal. Respite stays are available too, whether somebody needs care for a short period after illness or a family carer needs a genuine break. We plan short stays with the same attention as a permanent move, so nobody arrives feeling like an afterthought. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as the standard to keep rather than something to advertise. What tells us more is whether people here seem settled, whether mealtimes are sociable and whether relatives feel able to say when something is not right. If you are considering a care home in this area, please come and see us.
