About Wentworth Residential Home
Wentworth is a residential care home in St Austell supporting older people, including those who stay with us for respite. We are a small home in Cornwall and we run at a Cornish pace. People get up when they wake, eat when they are hungry and spend the day as they choose. Some residents want company and activity from breakfast onwards, and others want the paper, the window and their own thoughts. Both are reasonable, and neither should have to be negotiated. Moving into a care home usually means giving something up, often a house someone has lived in for decades and a great deal of independence with it. We do not treat that lightly. Rooms are arranged with people's own furniture and pictures wherever possible, and we take time over the first few weeks, because settling in is not something that happens on the first afternoon. Staff here know residents properly. They know who takes sugar, who will always talk about the sea, who wants help and who would rather manage alone. That knowledge is what good care actually rests on. Respite stays are welcome and are treated with the same attention as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are looking at homes in this part of Cornwall, please come and visit us.
