About The Grove
The Grove is a residential care home in St Austell supporting older people, and we welcome respite guests. We are a small home and everything follows from that. Staff know every resident properly, residents know each other, and the day moves at whatever pace the people living here set. Nobody is hurried through a morning, and people eat what they actually want rather than what is easiest to produce. What we try hardest to do is keep hold of ordinary life. That means conversation that follows someone's interests, time outside when the weather is decent, a room that looks like the person's own with their furniture and pictures in it, and visitors who are welcome rather than scheduled. Moving into a care home usually means letting go of a house and a good deal of independence, and it often happens quickly after something has gone wrong. We take the first few weeks seriously for that reason. Settling in is a process rather than an event, and nobody should be expected to have finished it by the second day. Respite guests are treated exactly as permanent residents are while they are with us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and come and see us at a time that suits you.
