About The Crescent Residential Care Home
We are The Crescent, a residential care home in Newquay. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing a mental health condition. What we provide is residential care done properly rather than anything more elaborate. Help with washing and dressing. Support with medication. Meals that people actually want to eat. Safe, warm rooms, and company for those who want it. We are not a nursing home, and we are clear with families about that from the outset. The home is run around the people living in it rather than around a timetable. Nobody is woken to suit the rota. Some residents like the sitting room and the conversation that goes with it, others prefer their own room, and both are perfectly reasonable ways to spend a day. For people managing a mental health condition, we work steadily and without drama. A settled routine, staff who do not change constantly and somebody to talk to when things are difficult tend to matter more than anything formal, and we keep in contact with community teams and GPs where they are involved. We keep families informed and would far rather ring early with a small concern. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
