About Coombe House Residential Home
Coombe House Residential Home is in Liskeard, Cornwall. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We aim for a home that is calm, warm and unhurried. Most people arrive having found things hard at home, and what helps first is simply being properly looked after. Decent meals, help that comes before you have to ask twice, a clean and comfortable room that becomes yours, and staff who learn who you are rather than what your care plan says. Residents carry on running their own lives as far as they are able, choosing their routines, arranging their rooms and deciding how much of the day to spend downstairs. We encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures. A fair amount of our work involves people living with both dementia and long standing mental ill health, a combination that can see people moved from place to place. We would rather be somewhere that holds steady. Consistent staff, a predictable day and treating distress as something with a cause do most of the work. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are glad of it and we know it has to be earned again every day. Please come and look round Coombe House and ask us anything.
