About Trewithen
We are Trewithen, a care home in Camborne, Cornwall, supporting adults who need residential care in a place that feels like an ordinary home rather than an institution. Some of the people who live with us are older, some are younger adults, and between them they bring very different histories, routines and ambitions through the front door. Our job is to fit around those differences rather than ask anyone to fit around us. We support people living with learning disabilities and autism, people with physical disabilities, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Support is planned with each person and with the people who matter to them, and that might mean changing how we communicate, giving someone the quiet and the time they need, or taking on the practical parts of the day so that there is energy left over for the parts worth enjoying. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family a planned break while their relative carries on receiving familiar support from people who know them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than talk around it. We have an improvement plan in place, we are working through it alongside the people who live here and their families, and anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit and judge our progress for themselves.
