About Rosewarne
Rosewarne is a care home in Camborne, Cornwall. We provide residential care for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we support both younger adults and older people. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Supporting somebody who has both a learning disability and a sensory impairment takes particular care. Where a person cannot see or hear well, the usual ways of explaining what is about to happen do not work, and the world becomes unpredictable in a way that is frightening rather than merely inconvenient. We spend real time on communication, using touch, objects, signing or whatever fits the individual, and we never take a lack of response for a lack of understanding. Everyone here has a say in the ordinary decisions: what is bought and cooked, how their room looks, where they go and who visits. Routines stay steady and changes are explained well in advance. Something we watch for is how needs change with age, because for people with a learning disability those changes are too often put down to the disability itself. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
