About Lily House

Lily House is a residential care home in Ely, caring for older people who can no longer manage safely at home. We keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day is spent. We support people living with dementia, and that work rests on continuity above anything else. Knowing what somebody's day used to look like, keeping as much of it as we can and understanding what lies behind distress rather than simply managing it is what makes the difference between a settled day and a difficult one. We also care for younger adults, planning their day around their own interests rather than expecting them to fit into everybody else's routine. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short period and for family carers who need a proper break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as the standard to hold rather than an achievement to rest on. The more telling measure is the everyday evidence, whether people are up and occupied and whether families feel able to raise a concern early. Anyone considering Lily House is welcome to visit.
