About Churchfield Avenue
Our home on Churchfield Avenue in Cambridge is a small residential setting where adults with a learning disability and autistic adults live with the support they need to run their own lives. It is a house in a residential street, and people here are neighbours rather than residents of an institution. We support younger adults and adults of working age. Everything starts with understanding how someone communicates, what helps them feel settled and what they want their week to hold. From there we help with personal care, health appointments, medication, cooking, shopping and managing money, and we support people to use Cambridge properly, whether that means college, work, a regular club, a place of worship or simply a favourite route into town. Where someone wants to do something that carries a bit of risk, our job is to work out how to make it safe enough rather than to say no by default. Adults are entitled to make their own choices, including the occasional poor one. We also offer respite stays for people who live with family, giving everyone a planned break somewhere that becomes familiar quickly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering a placement, please come and see the house and meet the people who live here.
