About Shaw Red Hill Care Centre
We are Shaw Red Hill Care Centre, a nursing home in Worcester. We care for older people and younger adults needing nursing support, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we take respite stays as well as permanent residents. Having qualified nurses on site at every hour is the practical difference between us and a residential home. Changes in a resident's health are picked up by staff who know them well, a move elsewhere is rarely necessary when a condition shifts, and care at the end of life can be given here among familiar people. For residents living with dementia, we build the day around the person rather than expecting them to fit our timetable, and when somebody is distressed we look for what is causing it before anything else. For people with a physical disability, the difference between good care and poor care is usually time and attention to detail: an unhurried transfer, equipment set up properly, and asking the person who knows how it is best done. We work at keeping life here recognisably ordinary, with own routines, own belongings and visitors who do not need to book. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
