About Dormy House
We are Dormy House, a nursing home in Ascot. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for people who need nursing support for a short period. Registered nurses are on duty here throughout the day and night. Our intention is a home where skilled clinical care and ordinary domestic life sit alongside each other. People here should be able to have a lie in, choose their own clothes, keep up with the news, see their friends and eat something they fancy, while also having pressure areas checked, medicines managed properly and pain taken seriously. We need to be candid about our position. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission gave us an overall rating of requires improvement. We accepted the substance of it, and we have been working through the findings with our staff, with residents and with families ever since. Progress in a care home is made slowly and in detail, through supervision, training, audit and honest conversation, and that is the work we are doing. We would rather you heard this from us at the start than found it later. If you are considering nursing care in the Ascot area, come and visit, ask what has changed and what has not, and judge us on what you see.
