About Richmond House
We are Richmond House, a nursing home in Leigh, in the borough of Wigan. We care for older people who need nursing support, for adults living with dementia, and for younger adults whose health needs call for qualified nursing on hand. Having registered nurses here at all times changes what we can offer. It means we can take on conditions that need clinical monitoring, manage medication and wounds properly, work alongside GPs and community teams, and support people through periods of illness without an avoidable move to hospital. It also means a resident whose health declines can usually stay with us, among people they know. Dementia care is a large part of our daily life, and we approach it by learning the person rather than the diagnosis: what work they did, what music they like, which parts of the day they find hardest. Families tell us the small things matter most, and we agree. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. We treat that as a floor rather than a finish, and we audit our own practice between inspections so that problems are found by us first. Relatives are welcome here without an appointment, and we would rather hear a concern early than have someone sit on it. If you are looking at nursing care in the Leigh area, come and visit, talk to residents and their families, and judge us on what you see.
