About Longacre Care Home
Longacre Care Home in Worthing is a nursing home, with qualified nurses on duty at all times. We care for older people, including many people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. People usually come to us when health needs have grown beyond what support at home or a residential home can meet, and our task is to meet those needs without letting them become the whole of somebody's life. Nursing here means consistent attention to the things that keep a person comfortable and well: medicines, mobility, nutrition and hydration, skin, continence and pain, reviewed properly and talked through with the person and their family rather than handled quietly in the background. Around that, ordinary life carries on. People rise when they wake, keep their own furniture and photographs about them, choose where to spend the day and eat food that suits their taste. Where there is sensory loss we attend to lighting, contrast and working hearing aids. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
