About Common Care Home
Wandsworth Common Care Home is a nursing home in south west London. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. With registered nurses on duty at every hour, medication, wound care, continence, long term conditions and care at the end of life are managed here rather than through repeated journeys to hospital. We work closely with local GPs, community nursing teams and therapists, and we ask for specialist advice early rather than waiting to see. Alongside the clinical care we pay attention to what makes a day worth having. Meals people actually want, a chance to get outside, visitors welcomed without ceremony and staff who have time to sit down for a conversation. When somebody moves in we ask about their life as well as their health, because that is what allows us to look after a person rather than a diagnosis. For people living with dementia we concentrate on familiarity and time, keeping staff teams consistent and giving people space to be anxious without being hurried along. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit, meet the nursing team and see how the home runs before making any decision.
