About Candlewood House Care Home
We are Candlewood House Care Home, a nursing home in Barnet in north London. We care for older people who need nursing support with their daily lives, and we also support younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available for people recovering after a hospital admission or where a family carer needs a planned break. Having qualified nurses on duty means that health needs are looked after in the place people live. Medication, wound care, help with continence, monitoring of long term conditions and sensitive care at the end of life are all provided here, and we work closely with visiting general practitioners, therapists and specialist teams so that decisions are made with people rather than about them. Nursing is only part of what makes a home. We take trouble over meals, over how people are helped to dress in the morning, over whether someone who has always been an early riser is allowed to carry on being one. Residents keep their own routines wherever we can support them, bring their own furniture and pictures where there is space, and see visitors without a fuss being made about it. For people whose world has become smaller, the small courtesies matter more, not less. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. If you are looking for nursing care in this part of London, we are happy for you to visit, meet the team on an ordinary day and ask us anything you need to.
