About Northenden House
Northenden House is a nursing home in Sale, in Trafford. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability, autistic people, people who live with mental health conditions or an eating disorder, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are also available. Caring for such a range of people requires a team with real breadth, and we build ours accordingly. Registered nurses are on duty, so we can manage medication, wounds, continence, nutrition and pain, and monitor closely for the early signs that somebody is becoming unwell. We work jointly with GPs, community teams, mental health services and hospital colleagues rather than in isolation, and we do not let somebody's needs fall between two specialisms. Alongside the clinical care, we pay attention to how people actually spend their days. Residents keep their own routines as far as their health allows, they have their own belongings around them, and staff take trouble to learn who somebody was before they came here. For residents living with dementia we keep surroundings calm and familiar and pair staff with people consistently. For younger residents we think hard about what a full and interesting week looks like. Families are kept properly informed and are welcome at any reasonable time, including for the difficult conversations that illness eventually brings.
