About Alma Court Care Home
Alma Court Care Home is a nursing home in Cannock, Staffordshire. We care for older people who need qualified nursing, for younger adults with nursing needs, and for people living with mental ill health alongside a physical condition. Respite stays are available when a family carer needs a break or cover. Nurses are on duty here at all hours. That means medication is managed closely, wound care and long standing conditions are dealt with on site, and changes in someone's health are picked up by people who know them rather than during a rushed appointment elsewhere. We work alongside GPs, district nurses, community mental health teams and hospital staff, and we keep pressing when a resident needs something that is slow in coming. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we treat it as care for a person with a history rather than management of a condition. We ask families about working lives, music, food and habits, because that information is what lets us make sense of distress somebody cannot put into words. The day is kept calm and predictable, and nobody is hurried. We should be open about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team and those areas are where our effort is concentrated now. Anyone considering Alma Court is welcome to visit, see the place as it is, and ask us about it directly.
