About Newbury Manor
Newbury Manor is a nursing home in Oldbury. We support older people and younger adults who need nursing care, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays. Having registered nurses as part of the team means people whose health needs are complex can stay with us as those needs change rather than being moved on again. Repeated moves are hard on anybody, and we would rather build our capability around the people already living here than pass them along. The clinical side is only one part of a day and usually the smaller part. The rest is ordinary life: meals worth eating, help arriving without a long wait, privacy when you want it, company when you do not, being spoken to as an adult with a history rather than a set of conditions. Nursing can crowd that out if nobody is watching for it, so we watch for it. For residents with learning disabilities and autistic residents, predictability is something we take seriously. Knowing who is on shift and what is happening makes the difference between a settled day and a hard one, so we give notice of change rather than rearranging casually. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We would rather a relative told us about something small this week than saved it for an inspection.
