About Southerndown
Southerndown is a nursing home in Chipping Norton. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside help with daily life, for residents living with dementia and for people living with mental health conditions. We also care for some younger adults with complex health needs. Having nurses on duty at all hours means we can manage wound and pressure care, continence needs, diabetes, pain relief and end of life care properly, working with GPs and district nursing teams. It also means that when somebody's health declines they can usually remain here, among familiar faces and their own belongings, rather than moving at the worst possible moment. Dementia nursing asks for patience above everything. We keep surroundings calm and the rhythm of the day predictable, we keep the same staff around the same residents as far as rotas allow and we give people time to find their words rather than finishing sentences for them. For residents living with mental health conditions, consistency and staff who stay steady when things are difficult count for a great deal. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Oxfordshire are welcome to visit.
