About Court Care Home
Abingdon Court Care Home is a nursing home in Abingdon, supporting people from across Oxfordshire. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs, and many of those living with us are living with dementia. Nursing registration and qualified nurses on site at every hour mean that we can look after people whose health is complex and changeable. Medication, wound care, nutrition, pain and the close monitoring that keeps somebody out of hospital are handled here as a matter of routine. For families worn down by a run of admissions, that alone changes the picture. Beyond the clinical side, our aim is modest and quite hard to achieve: that somebody gets to carry on being themselves. People keep their own habits where we can arrange it. Rooms look like they belong to their occupant. Nobody is woken at seven because it suits the rota. Visitors are welcome rather than tolerated. Dementia nursing is a large part of our work and we have firm views on it. Arguing with a person's version of the afternoon achieves nothing. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm and enough knowledge of somebody's life to find a way in achieve a great deal, and relatives are usually the ones who hold that knowledge. The Care Quality Commission has not yet issued us an overall rating. We would far rather you visited unannounced, spoke to the nurses on duty and formed your own view.
