About Bridge House
Bridge House is a nursing home in Abingdon providing nursing care for older people, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We also offer planned respite stays. Qualified nurses are here at every hour, and that changes what is possible. Conditions can be managed as they change rather than in emergencies, medicines get proper review, and people who would otherwise move repeatedly between home and hospital can be looked after here by staff who know them. For people nearing the end of life, it means comfort and familiar faces instead of an ambulance and a ward. Clinical care alone would not make this a good place to live, so we work hard at the rest. Residents decide when to get up, what to wear and how to spend the day. Meals are meant to be enjoyed. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would much rather somebody dropped in unannounced than felt they needed permission. For residents living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried, and we work with what a person can still do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. That was a good day for us, and we treat it as something to keep earning rather than a settled fact, so we ask residents and families regularly what they think and we act when the answer is critical.
