About Landermeads Care Home

Landermeads is a nursing home in Nottingham, with qualified nurses on duty day and night alongside our care team. We care for older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs and physical disabilities. Respite stays are part of what we do. A nursing home can easily become a place where the clinical side crowds out everything else, and we work deliberately against that. Medicines, mobility, nutrition and hydration, skin, continence and pain are attended to properly and reviewed with the person wherever they can take part. Around that, people rise when they wake, keep their own furniture and photographs about them, choose where to spend the day, and eat food that suits their taste as well as any clinical need. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well, so we gather a person's history with their family and keep adding to it, which is what lets us offer comfort when words become harder. Where somebody communicates differently we learn how and write it down so the whole team responds alike. When somebody is nearing the end of life we aim to be honest, present and unhurried with them and with the people who love them. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We read it mainly as a sign that the daily, unremarkable things are being done properly.
