About Goodman House
Goodman House is a nursing home in Nottingham. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, for residents living with dementia, for people with mental health needs, for people with physical disabilities and for younger adults with nursing needs. We also offer respite stays. Registered nurses are on duty here at all hours, which is what allows wounds, medication, pain relief, continence, long term conditions and end of life care to be managed on site. Changes in a resident's health are noticed and acted on quickly, and we work with GPs, community specialists and hospital teams so decisions get made calmly and in good time. Nursing is only part of it. We work hard at the ordinary business of making a day worth having. Residents choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and how much company they want, and rooms hold their own furniture and photographs. For residents living with dementia we keep surroundings familiar and staffing consistent, and we take real trouble to understand what sits behind distress rather than managing the surface of it. We keep families properly informed, including when the news is difficult, and visitors are welcome without appointment. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were pleased, and we treat it as a standard to keep meeting rather than a badge. Please come and look round.
