About 1 Devonshire Avenue
We are a small nursing home on Devonshire Avenue in Nottingham, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment who also have nursing needs. Most of the people living here are younger adults. Combining nursing care with the kind of support people need to live a full life is what we are set up to do. Having qualified nurses on hand means health needs are managed properly on site rather than becoming a reason for somebody to be moved somewhere less suitable. But nursing is the background to the place, not its purpose. People here choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list and how they spend their time. Some want a busy week out in the community and some want a settled rhythm at home, and both are supported properly. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work at it at their pace rather than assuming a limit. Communication is central. We learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure every member of staff understands it before working alone. We work closely with families, social workers, therapists and health professionals, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
