About Rosemount Care Home
Rosemount Care Home provides nursing care in Whitley Bay for older people, including many residents living with dementia, and for adults with physical disabilities. We support younger adults with nursing needs and offer respite stays. Registered nurses are on duty at every hour, which is what allows us to look after people whose health is complicated or changeable. Medicines, wounds, continence, pressure care and the early signs of infection are managed here by staff who already know the resident, rather than through a long wait and an unsettling journey to hospital. For anybody living with dementia, staying put is frequently the kindest clinical decision available to us. We also judge ourselves on whether a day here is worth having and not simply whether it passes safely. A resident can be thoroughly well nursed and thoroughly bored, and we count that as our failing rather than an inevitable feature of nursing care. Dementia support leans on familiarity more than technique: a recognisable order to the day, faces that stay the same, and enough knowledge of somebody's earlier life to make sense of what they are asking now. Families supply most of that and we ask a lot of them. Respite care is available after illness or surgery and for carers needing a proper break. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Come and see us at an ordinary time of day.
