About Decoy Farm

We are a nursing home near Great Yarmouth, caring for people whose needs require qualified nursing alongside support with daily living. We look after older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people living with mental health conditions. Nursing care in this setting is a particular kind of work. There are health needs that must be managed properly and without waiting: medication, pain, continence, difficulties with eating, drinking and moving, and the early signs of illness in people who may not be able to tell us something is wrong. Just as important is how care is offered. How a person communicates, what they find intolerable, what helps them feel safe and what a change of routine does to them all matter as much as the clinical side. People here have their own rooms and their own things, and we keep staffing as settled as we can, because familiar faces do more good than almost anything else we could arrange. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We prefer to say so plainly. We are working through what the inspectors raised and are willing to go through the report with anyone considering us. Please come and visit and ask us whatever you need to.
