About Ms Maisie Melanie Bell & Mr Percival Fiztroy Drummond - 40 Park
Lewisham Park is a small nursing home in Lewisham supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults who also have nursing needs. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Having registered nurses on duty alongside our support team means health and support are looked after together rather than treated as separate problems. Medication, epilepsy, swallowing difficulties, mobility and the physical health conditions that often go alongside a learning disability are all managed here, and we work with GPs, community learning disability teams and specialists so that symptoms are investigated properly rather than put down to somebody's disability. This is a small house and it runs as a home. Everyone has their own room and their own belongings, and a support plan written with them, in a form they can use, covering how they like to be supported, what they enjoy and what they want their week to contain. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn how they do communicate and make sure every member of the team knows it, which matters as much for recognising pain as it does for daily life. Where someone becomes distressed, we treat it as communication and look for the cause. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Families, advocates and professionals are welcome to visit.
