About Fernwood
Fernwood is a nursing home in Knowsley, near Liverpool. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, including residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available too. Registered nurses are on site around the clock, which means health needs are managed here rather than becoming a reason for another move. With that range of people living here, the way we work has to be genuinely individual. We learn how each person wants their day to run, how they communicate, what they can still do for themselves and where they actually want help. Beyond the nursing, we want residents to get up at their own hour, eat something they actually want and have their own things around them. For people living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the staffing familiar. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather people came and saw the home for themselves.
