About Barnes Lodge
Barnes Lodge is a nursing home in Tonbridge, Kent. We care for older people whose health needs go beyond residential care, and for younger adults living with conditions that require qualified nursing. Respite stays are available as well. Registered nurses are on duty here at all hours. Medication is managed closely, wound care, catheter care and conditions that vary from week to week are handled on site, and a change in a resident's health tends to be noticed early because the person noticing knows them well. We work with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we press on a resident's behalf when something is slow in coming. Dementia care sits alongside the clinical side of our work and cannot really be separated from it. Somebody in pain or frightened who cannot say so will show us in other ways, and reading that properly depends on knowing the person. So we ask families about working lives, music, food and old habits, and we keep the day calm and familiar. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team and those areas are where our effort is concentrated at present. We would far rather tell you ourselves than have you discover it elsewhere. Anyone considering Barnes Lodge is welcome to visit on an ordinary working day and see the place as it really is.
