About Emerson Grange

Emerson Grange is a nursing home in Swanley. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours, which means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are managed here rather than requiring somebody to move again. It also means that when a resident begins to become unwell, the people who notice are the ones who know them. Nursing is the foundation rather than the point of the place. Our residents live here, and what makes a day a good one is usually ordinary. A proper breakfast, the paper, familiar music, the garden when the weather allows, and staff with time to sit down and talk about something other than care. For residents living with dementia we keep the day steady and unhurried and we learn what reassures a particular person. Where sight or hearing is failing we work on lighting, contrast, sound and equipment so that people stay part of what is going on around them. For those with physical disabilities we pay attention to equipment, transfers and how the building is arranged. Where somebody is nearing the end of life we plan openly with them and their family and make room for relatives to stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome through the day.
