About The Highgate Care Home
The Highgate Care Home provides nursing care in Islington for people from across north London. We look after older people, adults with physical disabilities and younger adults whose health needs require qualified nursing, and we offer respite stays. Registered nurses are on duty throughout the day and night. That is what allows us to manage medicines, wounds, pressure care and the early signs of illness on site, by people who already know the resident, rather than through a long wait for help from elsewhere. For families, knowing that a difficult night will be handled by familiar staff is worth a great deal. We also care about whether a day here is worth having, not simply whether it is safe. A resident can be well nursed and thoroughly bored, and we count that as a failure of the home rather than a fact of old age. Being in London helps: visitors can come easily, people get out, and the world does not stop at the front door. Younger adults living with us have different expectations from older residents and we would be doing a poor job if we ran everything at one pace. Respite stays are available after hospital admissions and to give family carers a real break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round at an ordinary time and ask us anything you like.
