About Tenterden House Care Home
Tenterden House Care Home is a nursing home in St Albans. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, for people with physical disabilities and for younger adults with nursing needs. We also offer respite stays, including for people recovering after a hospital admission. Registered nurses are on duty here at all hours. That is what allows wounds, medication, pain relief, continence, long term conditions and end of life care to be managed on site, and it means changes in a resident's health are noticed and acted on quickly rather than left until the next appointment. We work alongside GPs, community specialists and hospital teams so decisions get made calmly and in good time, and people do not have to move on as their needs increase. Nursing is not the whole of life, and we work hard not to let it set the tone of the place. Residents choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and how much company they want, and rooms are furnished with their own belongings. Visitors are welcome without appointment. When somebody becomes unwell or is nearing the end of life, we are honest about it and make sure families are part of the conversation. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were glad of it and know it has to be earned again every day. Please come and look round.
