About Holy Cross Care Home
We are a nursing home in Heathfield, caring for older people whose needs require qualified nursing alongside help with daily living, including people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Having registered nurses on duty means medication, pain, wounds, continence and the difficulties people have with eating, drinking and moving can be managed properly and without waiting, and that a change in somebody's health is noticed early rather than late. That often makes the difference between a person staying settled here and being sent into hospital. Necessary as the clinical work is, it is not the whole of a life. People here still choose when they get up, what they wear, what they would like to eat and who they want beside them. Much of what makes a day good is small: a hot drink at the time it is wanted, help with washing given without hurry, somebody noticing that a person has gone quiet and sitting with them. Where sight or hearing is poor, saying who you are on coming into a room and explaining what you are doing matters more than people often realise. We work closely with general practitioners, community teams, therapists and hospital staff and keep families properly informed. Respite stays are available as well. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see us.
