About The Cedars Nursing Home
The Cedars Nursing Home is in Shaftesbury, Dorset. Qualified nurses are on duty here at every hour rather than visiting, and that is usually why families come to us instead of to a residential home. Most of the people living with us are older adults and a large proportion are living with dementia. A good number have a physical disability and need daily help with moving and positioning, and some are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We also support younger adults whose health needs require nursing. Respite admissions are available alongside permanent places. The nursing is careful and unhurried. Medicines, wounds, pain, pressure care, and making sure people eat and drink enough. The part no procedure covers is noticing early when somebody is not themselves, and that comes from the same staff seeing the same residents over months. Shaftesbury sits high on its hill with a view over the Blackmore Vale, and we get people outside and into the garden whenever the weather allows. Around the clinical work we try to hold on to ordinary life. Choice about rising and dressing, food worth eating, and visitors at whatever hour someone can get here. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and look round.
