About Dove House

Dove House is a nursing home in Worksop supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults who need qualified nursing on the premises. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Combining nursing with support for people with a learning disability takes a particular kind of team. Health needs have to be met properly, but they cannot be allowed to become the whole of somebody's life. So alongside the clinical side we plan around what a person actually wants their week to look like, what they enjoy, who they want to see and what they would like to be able to do for themselves. Everyone here communicates in their own way, and we learn how before anything else. Some people need the house calm and predictable, with plenty of notice before things change. Others want activity and company. We write all of that down clearly and expect every member of staff to work the same way so that support does not vary with the shift. Where somebody becomes distressed, we look for the cause and change what we can rather than simply managing the behaviour. We work closely with families, advocates and community teams, and we support people to take reasonable risks. If you are looking for a placement or respite at Dove House, please contact us and arrange to come and see it for yourself.
