About Langdale Lodge
Langdale Lodge is a nursing home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Qualified nurses are on duty here at every hour, and people generally come to us at the point where health needs have passed what a residential home or a family at home can safely carry. The people living with us are mostly older adults. Many have dementia, some have lived for years with a mental health condition, and a good number have a physical disability needing daily help with moving and positioning. Some are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We also support younger adults whose health needs call for nursing care. We think the measure of a nursing home is not the equipment but the attention. Medicines, wounds, pain and nutrition all have to be right, and they are. What is harder is noticing early that somebody has gone quiet, is eating less, or is in pain and not saying so. That depends on continuity of staff, so keeping our team is where most of our effort goes. Chesterfield is a decent place to be old in, with the Peak District on the doorstep, and we get people out when we can. Respite admissions are available where the clinical need rules out a residential stay. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit unannounced and see the place on a normal afternoon.
