About Acacia Care Centre
We are Acacia Care Centre, a nursing home in Croydon, south London. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we take respite admissions as well as permanent residents. Nursing cover at every hour is the practical difference between us and a residential home. It means changes in someone's health are picked up by staff who know them well, that a move elsewhere is rarely necessary when a condition shifts, and that care at the end of life can be given here among familiar people. Dementia care takes a large share of our attention. We find that history is the most useful thing a family can give us. Knowing what somebody did, where they came from, what mattered to them and what they would never have put up with tells us how to approach a difficult morning far better than any general method. Alongside that we try to keep life here recognisably ordinary. People keep their own routines and belongings, choose how they spend the day, and see visitors without arranging it first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
