About Thornfield Grange
Thornfield Grange is a nursing home in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. We provide nursing care for adults whose needs go beyond what can reasonably be managed at home, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter spell. We support older people and younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, and people living with mental health conditions. Having registered nurses on the team means we can look after people with genuine clinical need, but the nursing side of what we do sits alongside ordinary life here rather than dominating it. People get up when they want to, eat what they like, spend time in their own room or in company, and keep up the things that were important to them before they arrived. We put real effort into knowing people. Where somebody finds it difficult to tell us what they need, we look at behaviour, mood and routine, and we listen carefully to families, who usually know more than any assessment will capture. County Durham is home for most of the people who live here, and we work hard to keep those local ties going, whether that means visits, outings or simply familiar faces coming through the door. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are very welcome to come and look round.
