About Delamere House
Delamere House is a nursing home in Chester supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people managing mental health conditions including eating disorders. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and respite stays are available. Having registered nurses on site means health needs can be met here rather than becoming the reason for another move at the point when somebody has finally settled. What we work hardest at is making sure this does not feel like a ward. People have their own room and their own routine and a real say in how the house is run, and support follows the individual rather than a fixed timetable. We take time to learn how each person communicates, particularly when they are distressed and words are harder to reach, and what their sensory needs are. Where someone is living with an eating disorder we are careful about how support around food and mealtimes is offered, because the manner of it can help or do real harm. We work closely with community mental health teams and social workers. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
