About Glentworth House
Glentworth House is a nursing home in Hove, caring for older people who need qualified nursing alongside daily support, including those living with dementia. We also offer respite and short stays. Nursing care works best when it is unobtrusive. Our nurses are here around the clock and we work closely with GPs, district nurses and hospital teams, but the aim is that people experience a home where they are known rather than a place where they are treated. Noticing that someone is eating less, sleeping differently or simply not themselves depends on familiarity, so continuity of staff is something we guard carefully. Dementia care is central to what we do. We keep the day steady and give people far more time than efficiency would suggest, because being rushed is what turns confusion into distress. We ask families about a person's history, work, music and habits, and we use it rather than record it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased with that and also wary of it, because a rating describes a period of time and not a guarantee, so we keep examining what could be done better and we would always rather hear a complaint than a compliment. If you are considering nursing care for a relative, please come and see us and ask us anything you like.
