About The Aldbury

The Aldbury is a nursing home in Poole, Dorset, caring for older people and younger adults who need skilled nursing support, for people living with dementia, and for those coming to us for a respite stay. Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means we can look after people whose health needs are considerable, and manage periods of illness here rather than through repeated trips to hospital. Our care staff work alongside the nursing team and know people well enough to spot when something is not right before it becomes urgent. Just as much effort goes into keeping this a place where people live. Rooms are people's own, filled with their own furniture and photographs. The day has a shape without becoming a timetable. There is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and the food is meant to be looked forward to. For people living with dementia we keep surroundings calm and familiar, learn about their earlier lives so conversation has somewhere to go, and train staff to work with how somebody experiences the world rather than contradicting them. Where someone is approaching the end of life, we plan for it honestly and well in advance, in their own words. Families are welcome and involved in decisions. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please ring if you would like to visit.
