About Avon View
Avon View is a nursing home in Christchurch, caring for people whose needs bring together qualified nursing and support with daily life. Our residents include older people, people living with dementia, adults living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and those with sight or hearing loss, as well as younger adults. Respite stays are available. Registered nurses are on duty throughout the day and night. That is what lets us manage medicines, wounds, continence and pressure care on site and catch the early signs of illness before they turn into emergencies. Treating somebody here, by people who already know them, is almost always better than moving them, and for a resident living with dementia it can be decisive. We also hold ourselves to whether a day here is worth having. A resident can be thoroughly well nursed and thoroughly bored, and we count that as our failing rather than an unavoidable feature of nursing care. Visitors are welcome at reasonable hours and at unreasonable ones when it matters. Because our residents' needs vary so widely, the team has to know people as individuals, which is why holding on to experienced staff is the thing we work hardest at. Respite care is offered after illness or surgery and for family carers needing a genuine rest. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round at an ordinary time.
