About The Orangery
The Orangery is a nursing home in Bath. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside day to day support, for adults living with dementia, and for younger adults whose conditions mean they need nursing care. We also take respite bookings, including for people who need a period of recovery after a hospital stay. Having registered nurses on duty at all hours means we can look after complex health needs here rather than sending people back and forth to hospital. Pain relief, wound care, diabetes, continence and the slow complications of frailty are all managed on site, with GPs and community specialists involved whenever their input helps. Nursing is only half the job. The rest is making sure the day is worth getting up for. People choose their own rhythm, what they eat and where they spend their time, and we keep the house looking and feeling like a home rather than a clinical setting. For residents living with dementia we work from what the person believes and feels rather than correcting them, and we take trouble to understand what sits behind agitation before reaching for anything else. Families are welcome here and we would rather talk with you often than only when there is bad news. When someone becomes unwell or is approaching the end of life, we say so honestly and make sure nobody is left out of the conversation. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see us in Bath.
