About Willowmere Care Centre
Willowmere Care Centre is a nursing home in Barnet, north London. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with a physical disability and people whose health has been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. That is a wide remit and we take it on deliberately. A number of the people who come to us have been difficult for other settings to place, either because their nursing needs are complicated or because their history makes people nervous. We would rather start from what a person needs now than from what is written in their file. Having nurses on site at all hours means we can manage real clinical need steadily: medication, wound care, nutrition, pain, and the close monitoring that keeps someone out of hospital. Alongside that we work on the things that make a life. Privacy. Being spoken to like an adult. Something to do. Visitors who are made welcome rather than tolerated. For people recovering from long term alcohol or drug use, we work without moralising and alongside the specialist teams already involved. Dignity is not a reward for good behaviour. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are used to answering hard questions from families and social workers, and we would far rather you asked them before someone moves in.

More about the care at Willowmere Care Centre
Nursing Care at Willowmere Care Centre
One hundred and nineteen people can live at this Barnet home, with indicative London fees of £1400 to £1850 a week against a council rate of about £1000 to £1200. Having nurses on site at all hours is what lets the home manage medication, wound care, nutrition, pain and the close monitoring that keeps somebody out of hospital. People need that level when clinical need is real and changeable rather than settled. NHS Funded Nursing Care of about £235 a week is paid towards the nursing element for eligible residents and reduces the bill. Ask how many nurses are on each shift and who arranges that assessment.
Dementia Care at Willowmere Care Centre
Priory CC126 has held this registration since 16 September 2026, and no CQC rating has been published for the home. Dementia care is one of seven categories on the licence, so the register confirms scope and nothing about the texture of a day. In a building registered for 119 people the practical question is whether familiar faces are achievable, so ask how staff are grouped and how often a resident sees the same ones. Ask how distress is handled on a difficult afternoon, what is done if a resident tries to leave, and how care changes as dementia advances. Ask what dementia training staff receive.
Alcohol and Drug Misuse at Willowmere Care Centre
Dignity is not a reward for good behaviour, as this home puts it, describing work without moralising and alongside the specialist teams already involved. Recovery support in a nursing setting rests on clear boundaries as much as goodwill. Ask which specialist service stays involved, what experience the staff on each shift have with dependency, and how a relapse is handled.
Older Person Care at Willowmere Care Centre
Privacy, being spoken to like an adult, something to do and visitors made welcome rather than tolerated are what this home lists alongside the clinical work. For an older person the daily pattern is help with washing and dressing, medication given and recorded, meals and company, with nurses on site at all hours. Willowmere Care Centre is in Barnet and takes residents from across north London. Ask how many staff and how many nurses are on through the night, and what they can deal with without calling out. Ask also how a routine is agreed when somebody moves in, and who a family speaks to when it is not followed.
Mental Health at Willowmere Care Centre
People who have been difficult for other settings to place are part of who this home says it takes, whether because nursing needs are complicated or a history makes others nervous. It says it starts from what somebody needs now rather than what is in their file. Ask what mental health training staff have, who is on overnight, and how a crisis is escalated to the Barnet teams.
Younger Adults at Willowmere Care Centre
Younger adults with nursing needs are named on this registration alongside older people and dementia care. A younger person usually wants a week that looks different from the one around them. Ask who of a similar age lives here now, how an afternoon is filled, and what there is to do on the premises.
Physical Disability at Willowmere Care Centre
Seven categories sit on this Barnet registration, physical disability among them. In a home of this size, access between bedroom, lounge and outside decides how much of the building a resident actually uses. Ask how a handling assessment is carried out and recorded, what equipment is available, and what adaptations exist rather than what is planned.
