About Caremark
Caremark Wirral provides care and support in people's own homes across the Wirral. We visit older people, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Most people find us at a moment of change. A fall, a stay in hospital, a diagnosis, or the gradual arrival of the point at which managing alone stops being realistic. What we try to do in those first weeks is take the pressure off without taking the household over. We pick up what has genuinely become hard and leave alone what somebody still manages, because ability removed for the sake of convenience is very difficult to get back. The work covers washing and dressing, medication prompted or given, meals, moving safely around the house, laundry, shopping, appointments and time to talk without hurrying. Some households want one visit a week and some need four calls a day. For people living with dementia we keep familiar carers coming at familiar times wherever the rota allows. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, we pay attention to habits that are easily overlooked: announcing ourselves, leaving furniture where it lives, checking that aids and glasses are actually working. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We would rather be judged on how straightly we answer your questions, so please ask them.
