We are Keiron Starns Care Agency, based in Warminster, and we provide support in people's own homes and in the community across Wiltshire. Our work is with adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, and adults living with mental ill health. What we do is less about tasks than about making a life workable. For autistic people that predictability is a need rather than a preference, and we take sensory comfort seriously for the same reason. The second is doing things with somebody rather than for them, because independence is far easier to keep than to win back once it has gone. For people living with mental ill health, what helps most is usually steadiness: turning up when we said, noticing when something has shifted, and not treating a bad week as a crisis.
