Brandon Trust Supported Living in Wiltshire provides support to people in their own homes in Trowbridge and across the county. Supported living rests on a simple idea. The tenancy is the person's, the home is the person's, and support comes to them on terms they set. It is not a placement and we are not in charge. Our job is to make a particular life workable, which for many of the people we support means keeping a home, a job or a college place, seeing friends and managing money with the right amount of help and no more. Plans are written with the person, in a form they can actually use, involving family or an advocate if they want that, and revised as things change rather than at fixed review dates. We keep the team around each person small and introduce new support workers properly. For autistic people that consistency matters more than almost anything, along with notice of change well in advance and attention to sensory needs. Where somebody communicates through signing, pictures or objects, our staff learn their way of doing it. Where there is a physical disability or sight loss we look closely at equipment and at how the home is arranged. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
