About Wellington Supported Living
We are Wellington Supported Living, based in Northampton, and we support people in their own homes across the area. Our work is with adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, adults living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, younger adults and older people. Supported living means something definite to us. The home belongs to the person. Our support fits around the life they want rather than the other way round. And the aim is always to help somebody do a thing rather than to do it for them, because skills that get used are skills that stay. In practice that might mean help with personal care and medication, or cooking, shopping, managing money and post, keeping a tenancy in order, or getting out to work, college, appointments and the places somebody actually enjoys. For people with physical disabilities the emphasis is often on safe transfers and equipment that fits properly. Consistency is what we work hardest at. The same staff wherever the rota allows, changes explained in advance rather than sprung on people, and routines that hold. For autistic people that predictability is a need rather than a preference, and we take sensory comfort seriously for the same reason. For people living with mental ill health, steadiness and an absence of drama are usually what help most. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are working out whether we would suit somebody, ring us and we will give you a straight answer.
