Mentaur Community Support works with adults in their own homes in Northampton and across West Northamptonshire, including people living with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, younger adults and older people. Many of the people we support have had a difficult time with services before. Plans made about them rather than with them, and relationships that ended whenever a contract did. So we put weight on the unglamorous parts of the job. Turning up. Being consistent. Explaining what we are doing and why. Being honest about what we can offer, including when the honest answer is that somebody needs something we are not the right team to give. Support is planned with each person and reviewed as things change, and we work alongside the health and social care professionals involved so that nobody is left coordinating their own care between agencies that do not speak to one another. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We would rather state that openly and answer questions about how we work.
